Huge congratulations to the 10 boys who participated in the McDonald's Soccer Sixes in the Station Centre on Friday 16th May. The boys competed well in the first round games, with a win against Omagh Integrated and draw against St Mary's Killyclogher, along with narrow defeats against Christ the King and St Conor's.
This meant a play off in round 2 was required against Holy Family to see if we would qualify for the cup or the shield competition.
Another defeat by the finest of margins (1-0) meant we missed out on the cup competition, but qualified to play against St Conor's in the semi final of the shield.
The game was decided by a penalty shoot out, with a superb save from our keeper, Sam, meaning if Cahir scored his penalty we would qualify for the shield final. Cahir duly obliged, with a superbly taken penalty, putting us through to the final against Christ the King, a team that had beaten us earlier in round one.
In the final, with very little time left on the clock, Cillian struck a sweet strike from the midfield area, leaving the Christ the King goalkeeper rooted to the spot and unable to react quickly enough, allowing Cillian's superbly hit shot to rattle the back of the net. This goal was enough for All Saints' to claim the victory and thus get our hands on the Shield for the first time in 3 years. Cillian also received an All Star Award for his performances.
